The final quarter of 2020 has been marked by a synchronized rise in both the SCFI (representing spot box rates) and the Alphaliner Charter Index (ACI), in an amplitude not seen in more than 15 years.
Strong cargo demand has caused delays and deadlocks in many ports, which further tightened tonnage availability and fueled the rate drive.
