ULCS Megamax container ship capacity deployed on Far East-Europe trades exceeded 4 Mteu for the first time in history last month

Vessels over 18,000 TEU now account for over 52.6% of the entire capacity shipped on Far East-Europe trades, with total capacity now standing at over 7.6 Mteu.

This makes 24% of the world’s entire Container Ship fleet capacity engaged on the Far East-Europe routes, while the deployment of primarily large vessels means that only 8% of the global vessel count is servicing this trade.

Furthermore, the Far East-Europe trade area registered the highest year-over-year growth at 20.3% in January, followed by Latin America trades at 16.7% and Middle East-Indian Subcontinent related at 15.6%.
