The Danish shipping giant consolidates its Top 2 place in our ranking with nearly 740 vessels in its fleet giving it a market share of 14.3%. While its owned tonnage is now at nearly 2.6 Mteu of capacity, its chartered fleet is more numerous in vessel count, now totalling over 400 individual ships.
Meanwhile, MSCCargo continues holding the largest market share at 20.2% of the global capacity. With its orderbook now containing 130 purchased units, it appears the moment when MSC exceeds 6.4 Mteu of total fleet capacity is imminent.
MSC’s chartered fleet also keeps growing, having recently exceeded 3 Mteu in total capacity. Unlike Maersk however, MSC’s ratio of owned-to-chartered vessels stands at 2-to-1 in favour of owned tonnage.
Evergreen Line, along with cmacgm and MSC maintain the highest orderbook-to-existing-fleet percentages in the Top 10 Operator rankings.
