Alphaliner’s latest newbuilding delivery projection indicates that ULCS vessels with a TEU capacity of over 15,000 will reach a total capacity over over 8.3 Mteu at the end of 2025.
At the same time, the current market leader in terms of total capacity – Neo-SubPanamaxes with a TEU capacity between 5,100 and 10,000 – will have expanded to just under 8.2 Mteu.
Going forward, demand for the largest vessels on the market is curretly expected to increase their total fleet capacity market share to over 28%, whereas at the end of 2024 ULCS vessels accounted for about 23% of the global liner fleet.
