This week, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (YZJ) delivered the 7,800-TEU LNG powered ZIM DIAMOND to Seaspan Corporation.

This is the 10ᵗʰ in a series of 15 LNG-dual-fuel “SAVER 7000 CleanBlue” type of vessels.

All of them are to serve long-term time charters with the Israeli ocean carrier ZIM.

Also very recently, CMA CGM took delivery of the the 2,126 TEU LNG-powered MV CMA CGM SALAMANQUE from the South Korean Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

These vessels bring the total number of LNG-powered container ships to be delivered so far in 2024 up to 45.

By comparison, just a month ago the count was 31.

YZJ’s delivery brings the number of LNG-powered ships in ZIM’s fleet up to 22, just surpassing MSC in total vessel count, albeit at a smaller total TEU capacity.

CMA CGM extended its lead ahead of the competition with 57 LNG-powered vessels in total.
