While not quite as strong as Q3, the final quarter of 2024 was still the third-highest in history in terms of Container Ship orders after 107 new vessels with a total capacity of 1.46 Mteu were added to the global orderbook.
As of 1 January 2025, the current cellular orderbook consisted of 780 vessels in total with a total capacity of over 8.5 Mteu – a historical record by itself.
Overall, in Q4 2024 the Container Ship orderbook expanded by 10.7% in terms of TEU on order and about 5.1% in terms of vessel count.
