The prediction Alphaliner made as early as Q1 is coming to fruition as 2025 draws to a close.
Our latest newbuilding delivery projections indicate that ULCS vessels with a TEU capacity of over 15,000 will reach a total capacity of over 8.3 Mteu by the end of the year.
So far in 2025, just under 0.9 Mteu of capacity has been added to this fleet segment, with over 0.2 Mteu expected to be delivered by the end of December.
The number of the largest vessels currently in service stands at 432 units, with a combined capacity of over 8 Mteu.
Meanwhile, Neo-Sub-Panamax vessels, with TEU capacities between 5,100 and 10,000, contribute just under 8.1 Mteu to the global fleet across nearly 1,100 ships.
However, their combined capacity has increased by less than 0.3 Mteu so far this year.
