In recent decades infrastructure constraints in ports & waterways around the globe have slowly but surely “created” a number of well-known vessel types from Panamax Container ships to Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carriers.
One container ship type that has gained increasing popularity in recent years is the “Bangkokmax” vessel, which typically boasts an intake from 1,700 to 1,900 teu. More recent iterations of the type – “maxi-Bangkokmax”– come with an intake capacities of up to 2,500 teu.
Originally designed to access the city port of Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River, recently ‘Bangkokmaxes’ increased their presence in regions as the Mediterranean, South America, the Caribbean Basin, the Middle East, Africa, Australia & New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
