After having looked at the capacity changes for the top-12 carriers in 2023 we focus this week on the medium-sized carriers in the positions 13 to 30 in the Alphaliner Top 100.
These eighteen carriers operated a combined fleet of almost 1.5 Mteu at the beginning of the new year, representing 6.5% of the total container fleet. The medium-sized carriers grew their fleets by an average 5.2% over the past twelve months which is below the 8.2% growth for the overall fleet in 2023.
SeaLead Shipping and Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co (NBOSCO) were the fastest growing medium-sized carriers last year. In the course of last year, SeaLead added 43,300 teu of capacity to its fleet.
