West Coast Trade Report – March 2019

On the inbound traffic side, container trade through U.S. West Coast ports slowed dramatically in January. While coastwide traffic did increase 4.9% (+44,825 TEUs) from January 2018, the number of inbound loaded boxes was down 9.7% (-103,662 TEUs) from the previous month, signaling an abrupt end to a late year import surge that was driven largely by fears of rising tariffs.
