Hong Kong Port is one of the busiest international container ports in the world. The port is called by more than 240 international container liners per week, connecting to more than 460 destinations worldwide. Handling 16.7 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of containers in 2022, it was the ninth busiest container port globally. The maritime and port businesses are important to the Hong Kong economy, accounting for 4.1% of its gross domestic product and 2.1% of total employment in 2021.
