The German Shipowners’ Association (Verband Deutscher Reeder, VDR) is responsible for representing the common business and social policy interests of German shipping companies at federal and state government level.
In addition, the VDR represents the interests of German shipping companies vis-à-vis European and international bodies and public authorities. This is done either directly or via international associations of which it is a member.
The wide range of interests in need of protection calls for intensive internal communications. By engaging in constant dialogue within the scope of the commissions set up to this end by the Association, on the Board of Directors and its Presidential Committee, the political leeway for action is defined and a consensus established in the interests of the Association’s political activities.
